App of the Month : StockTouch

Our app of the month is StockTouch, an iPad app that takes data visualization to a new level. As the name implies, StockTouch is a financial app that gives you an at-a-glance view of the stock market. Launch the app and you’ll you’ll see 9 squares, each square representing a market sector.  Within each of the squares are more squares. Each individual square is associated with an individual stock within that sector. StockTouch uses colors to reflect the performance of each stock with red equating to a negative return and green representing a positive return. This color scheme allows you to see which sectors or stocks are rising in value and which one’s are not. This allows you to see the market from a macro or micro level. 

Simply touching a sector takes you into that sector. Likewise, touching a stock square, allows you see just that stock.  When you do view one stock, you are greeted by a well designed layout with big, beautiful charts. 

StockTouch also allows you to refine your criteria for viewing information. You can view performance on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly or annual basis. You can even view by stocks by price performance, volume, market cap or alphabetically.
