LiveWire Construction is a full-service electrical contractor for commercial, industrial, and utility projects in the Chicago area, with a team of more than 100 professionals. It is part of Shonco Enterprises, alongside two sister companies: BlackRock Construction, which handles general contracting, construction management, and self-performed concrete, and LiveWire Energy, which specializes in solar energy installations.

The Challenge
LiveWire Construction had a unique challenge. It needed a new website, and so did its two sister companies at Shonco Enterprises. How do you build three websites on a budget that is typical for one? An electrical contractor, a general contractor, and a solar installer each serve different clients and offer different services, so a single shared website wasn’t an option. Each company needed its own site and its own identity, built to stand apart from the other two. In addition, each website needed to scale for growth, with room to add services, projects, and team members as the business expands.
Our Approach
We designed one website and built it to work for LiveWire Construction and both of its sister companies. That single design is what made three sites possible on a budget typical for one. Each site shares the same layout and structure, with its own colors, logo, and content, so every company stands apart while still looking like part of the same family.
Using WordPress Multisite, we cloned the original build and refined each version for its company. And because it’s a custom WordPress build, each site will easily scale in the years ahead as the companies grow. LiveWire Construction and BlackRock Construction are live, with LiveWire Energy launching soon.
Design
We kept the design clean so LiveWire’s work stays front and center. Strong typography sets a clear hierarchy on every page, with bold headlines that make each section easy to scan. Motion adds energy without getting in the way, including an oversized headline that scrolls across the homepage hero. Custom icons give the team, skill, and safety callouts a look of their own. And the site is fully mobile responsive, so it works as well on a phone at a job site as it does on a desktop in the office.
Web Development
The LiveWire site is a custom WordPress build, developed from the ground up with no off-the-shelf theme. We built it on WordPress Multisite, which lets LiveWire Construction and its sister companies run from a single installation and a shared codebase. Each company manages its own content, while updates and new features can roll out to all three sites at once. Pages are assembled from reusable modules, so the LiveWire team can add services, projects, team members, and blog posts without touching code.
